He appears to be an experienced rider and has a small offroad track he uses to test his settings. The first video I found were his settings for off road. He explained how his 1290 reacted before and after and why he adjusted what he did. The Chilly Exhaust Heat Shield is the most effective heat shield on the market. The innovative three piece design consists of a top shield attached to 2 rails with rivets and spacers. This reduces the contact area and slows down heat transfer. They have incorporated a patented, insulated reflective blanket on the underside of the shield to I've had the same KTM branded Touratech top box on 3 KTM's now - its tough and watertight, looks the part on the bike, the strap points on the top are handy for lashing on an additional bag, simple box shape which is easy to pack, takes 1 full face helmet, it does need the extra mounting frame but that is transferable bike to bike. You like the 1190 but want the extra bells and whistles, you've got the money - you don't need to justify it to anyone but yourself, get the 1290. If you decide yo want something smaller after riding it a year or 2 there will be 790's on the used market. Not even sure how the 1200 scrambler is on your list. #6. The 1x90 airbox thing is a 3-fold issue, the 1st issue having been fixed by KTM, the 2nd issue being pretty common to all bikes, and the 3rd issue being outliers. My Adventure R 1190 has been at the dealer more than with me, currently it has been there for 4 weeks for a simple warranty repair but no one from the dealer or KTM seem bothered.
